From Concept to Beta Test: How Two Projects Unexpectedly Gained Momentum

Originally, it was supposed to be just one project, but suddenly there were two: [FlightRoom and a surprise project that remains under wraps](https://luciankatzbach.de/en/from-idea-to-beta-test-how-two-projects-unexpectedly-took-off/). Within a week, I was almost ready to launch both projects, a pace I hadn't experienced in my years as a programmer and entrepreneur. The use of AI, particularly Claude Code, enabled this rapid progress. It's exciting to bring my own idea to practical testing so quickly after a three-year hiatus.
Returning to Programming
After many years as a programmer, during which I led a company with employed developers and implemented large projects with six-figure budgets, I stepped away from programming for a while. The projects I worked on were often highly complex, like a banking product. But now, in the era of AI development, everything seems to move faster. Being almost launch-ready within a week was new to me.
The Challenges of Practice
As the projects went into practical testing, problems arose as expected. They weren't major catastrophes, but UX issues and unexpected conceptual difficulties challenged me. These challenges reminded me of the importance of staying close to the target audience to understand their needs. Practice is the only way to see what truly works.
The Use of AI as a Gamechanger
Claude Code, although an expensive option, has proven to be valuable. I use the Max subscription but sometimes hit its limits. When that happens, I focus on the conceptual aspects, which is also exciting. An important trick I've discovered is using job stories. Having the AI review these helps identify potential errors I might overlook.
These experiences brought me back to my roots in agile Scrum teams, where I learned that as a Product Owner, you can't have everything in view. The complexity of the projects requires staying flexible and being ready to explore new paths.
Looking Ahead
Although I'm not yet sure how I'll fit all this alongside my consulting business, I'm optimistic. I may seek external help to further develop the projects. The beginning is made, and I'm curious to see where the journey goes. The first steps are often the most exciting, and I'm looking forward to continuing down this path.
